Michaela Gerg is one of the German athletes with the most impressive track record in alpine skiing races. Between 1980 and 1996, she was ranked among the top ten in the world more than 100 times and in 41 of them, she was ranked in the top three. She won four World Cup races and earned bronze at the World Cup in Super-G in 1989. She participated in the Olympics four times. Now 55 years old and still fit, the former professional athlete has spent a vacation linked to teleworking at the 5 * resort Las Terrazas de Abama, in Tenerife, enjoying the sun and the pleasant spring temperatures.

"It is the first time that I am away from home in winter and it is due to COVID-19. I should be in Lenggries now, where since 2008 I have run a ski school that integrates 60 instructors", says Michaela Gerg. "In autumn, I am usually busy for weeks preparing for the ski season, but I have come to the Canary Islands because the start of the season has been delayed due to the general shutdown caused by the worsening pandemic."

While enjoying these days in Tenerife, Michaela Gerg also practices another of her favorite sports, golf, together with her partner Achim Winter. And is that golf has become a very attractive sport, being one of the safest alternatives to keep fit against Covid. "Every two days we play golf in the fantastic facilities of Abama Golf, enjoying the views of the sea and the neighboring island of La Gomera. I am also doing yoga and Pilates with a personal trainer, a great service offered by Las Terrazas de Abama"says Michaela Gerg.

About his telecommuting days at the resort, he explains, "The work continues. Actually, I'm always working. But that doesn't bother me. I enjoy what I do and that's why I don't perceive it as work, especially in an environment like this. We sleep, we have breakfast at the Melvin by Martín Berasategui restaurant, we take a walk, we shop in the town of Playa San Juan and day-to-day life is very enjoyable. "

Michaela carries out her work telematically. She answers emails, prepares speeches for her many talks, comes up with new concepts for the ski school and foundation, and much more. "I can do it perfectly well here from the terrace or inside the apartment. The temperature is wonderful, the sun provides light. I am even more motivated in such a great environment, something I needed".
